'The Walking Dead' actor Scott Wilson dies at age 76
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Veteran actor Scott Wilson has passed away at the age of 76.
The actor played Hershel Green on the AMC television show 'The Walking Dead' from the 2011 to 2014.
AMC released a public statement saying: "Scott will always be remembered as a great actor and we all feel fortunate to have known him as an even better person. The character he embodied on The Walking Dead, Hershel, lived at the emotional core of the show. Like Scott in our lives, Hershel was a character whose actions continue to inform our characters' choices to this day. Our hearts go out to his wife, family, friends and to the millions of fans who loved him. Scott will be missed."
Wilson's character will still be making an appearance in the first half of season 9.
The actor also starred in the 1967 thriller "In Cold Blood" as murderer Robert Hickock.
Fellow cast mates and friends tweeted their condolences and grievances.
Wilson appeared in other films throughout the seventies and eighties, including "The Great Gatsby" (1974) and "The Right Stuff" (1983). He earned a Golden Globe nomination for his role as a former astronaut in "The Ninth Configuration" (1980).
