Thousands turn out for funeral of Korean War veteran
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - A day after Spring Grove Funeral Home put out a request to the public to help celebrate the life of a Korean War veteran whose family was unable to make it to the funeral, showed up in droves to the service on Saturday.
Hundreds showed up at Spring Grove Cemetery to honor the life of Hezekiah Perkins, who purchased a burial plot in the cemetery more than 20 years ago.
Perkins was buried with full military honors with the public looking on and soldiers from Fort Knox were at the service to perform a flag ceremony.
"Thank you to the thousands of patriotic citizens who came to pay tribute to Veteran Perkins today," Spring Grove Cemetery said on Facebook. "We are humbled by the turnout and so very proud of our Spring Grove Family and especially our community."
